Why it matters
300 dpi, really
The pixels are there (a 1024 px picture is enlarged to 2250 px for an 8.5 x 11 page with half-inch margins) and the file says 300 dpi, so KDP, Canva, Word and InDesign place it at the right size instead of reading 72 dpi.

What resolution do KDP images need?
300 dpi at the size they print. A picture 6 in wide needs 1800 px across. Lower than about 200 dpi prints visibly soft, and KDP's previewer flags it.
Does KDP accept WEBP or HEIC?
No. Use JPG, PNG or TIFF for images in a manuscript, and JPEG for Kindle. This converter reads WEBP and writes PNG or JPG.
Is there a KDP royalty calculator here?
Not yet. Paperback royalty is 60% of the list price minus printing cost; the print cost depends on page count, ink and marketplace, and KDP shows it on the pricing page.
Does KDP accept WEBP images?
No. KDP takes JPG, PNG and TIFF for images in a manuscript, and a PDF for a print interior. Convert WEBP to PNG (best for line art and coloring pages) or JPG (smaller, fine for photos) first.
Why are my AI images blurry or rejected for low resolution?
Most generators make 1024 px pictures, which is only 3.4 in at 300 dpi. Printed on an 8.5 x 11 page they are stretched to about 120 dpi. This page enlarges them to the full page at 300 dpi with a Lanczos filter; clean line art prints crisp at that size.
PNG or JPG for a coloring book?
PNG. Coloring pages are black lines on white, and PNG keeps the lines sharp with no JPEG blotches round them. JPG is fine for full-colour covers and photos.
What size should a KDP coloring page image be?
2550 x 3300 px for a full 8.5 x 11 in page at 300 dpi (2625 x 3375 px with bleed). With half-inch margins the art itself is up to 2250 x 3000 px.
