Embroidery

The design is fitted inside this with 5 mm to spare on every side, before a stitch is made.

What Embroidery mode does to your file

Fills, satin and running stitch

Areas are filled at the angle you choose with underlay beneath, narrow shapes become satin columns and lines become running stitches.

Fitted to your hoop

The design is sized inside the hoop you choose, from 4 x 4 in to 8 x 12 in, with room to spare on every side.

Every stitch previewed

See the stitches in thread colours, the stitch count and the sewing time before you download.

How to digitize for embroidery

  1. Pick simple artwork. A logo, badge or drawing with flat colours and clear edges digitizes best; a photograph does not sew well.
  2. Set the hoop and size. Choose your hoop (4 × 4 in up to 8 × 12 in) and the design width; it is fitted with room to spare.
  3. Choose the fill angle. Areas are filled at that angle with underlay; thin shapes become satin columns, lines running stitches.
  4. Check the stitches. The preview shows every stitch and colour, with the stitch count and sewing time.
  5. Download for your machine. DST for Tajima and most commercial machines, PES for Brother and Babylock, JEF for Janome. Sew a test first.

Questions

Which format does my machine read?

Brother and Babylock read PES; Janome, Elna and Kenmore read JEF; Tajima, Barudan, ZSK, Ricoma, Happy and Melco read DST.

What designs sew best?

Logos and drawings with flat colours and clear shapes. Very small lettering, under about 5 mm tall, and photographs do not sew well.

Can I check a file before sewing?

Yes: open it in the embroidery viewer to see every stitch, the size and the sewing time, and to convert it to another format.

Is it free?

Yes, and nothing is uploaded.
